According to contemporary meanings of museology and archival science, the care of cultural objects and collectibles requires much more than actions aimed merely at preserving them.
Moreover, there are wider threats, than the material deterioration over the time. There may be for example, the unawareness of their inherent material/cultural/ historical value, inappropriate management, mishandling, as well as criminal threats.
In consequence, to ensure the best practices to protect our cultural patrimony and collectibles, and to enhance its full potential in relation to a specific community or the wider society, more needs and duties arise.
