Multiannual, international and interdisciplinary (conservation-restoration and art history) project, Conservation Department of the Croatian Conservation Institute (HRZ) in Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is home to two baroque altarpieces of exceptional quality created by the Neapolitan painter Andrea Vaccaro (1604-1670). They are the only known altarpieces by Vaccaro in Croatia and were located in two confraternity churches: Church of our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Domino (All Saints’) Church. The restoration of these altarpieces has not only managed to uncover the beauty of the original colours, but has also confirmed that the Croatian paintings were of an exceptional pictorial quality. In addition to a detailed analysis of materials and techniques, this created an opportunity not only for a new comparison with autograph works by Vaccaro but also to deepening of our art historical knowledge on the working methods of this Baroque artist and his prolific Neapolitan workshop.

Schatting van de verzekeringswaarde van oude masterschilderijen in particuliere en bedrijfscollecties.
While under contract with Christie’s, we valued e.g. the old master paintings in the collection of the banking house Sal. Oppenheim, Cologne, in 2011. We rediscovered in the collection a painting by the Dutch painter Jan Lievens, which is since 2012 on loan in the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud, Cologne. The picture was recently presented to a wider public in the exhibition Inside Rembrandt 1606-1669 in the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum Cologne.

During construction works at the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Dubrovnik, four paintings from a series of four paintings attributed to Mattia Preti were restored and analysed by the Conservation Department of the Croatian Conservation Institute (HRZ) in Dubrovnik.
A core team of specialized scholars consisted of Mara Kolic Pustic, Team leader and Project Manager, art historians Nancy von Breska-Ficovic, John T Spike and Theresa Vella as well as Carlo Lalli, director of the Chemical Laboratory of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, Florence.
Their combined interdisciplinary research in this field of Italian Baroque painting has enabled a new interdisciplinary approach to Mattia Preti's art outside Italy and has complemented the existing research on this renowned Italian Baroque master, his workshop and artworks outside Italy.

While under contract with Christie’s we discovered in a private family collection an early Flemish painting depicting Adam and Eve, which we could attribute to the Master of the Embroidered Foliage.
Het schilderij was het duurste oude meesterschilderij dat bij Christie’s in Amsterdam is verkocht. In 2013 is het aan een breder publiek gepresenteerd in de tentoonstelling De Erfenis van Rogier van der Weyden. De schilderkunst in Brussel 1450-1520 in de Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten, Brussel als werk van Aert van den Bossche.

Creation of the glass sculpture “Fusion” - MusVerre Museum -glass museum- (Sars-poteries - FRANCE) 2018.

Udo Zembok, in his project for MusVerre, seeks to establish a fruitful dialogue with the architecture of the museum, with facades clad in blue stone, with pure and horizontal lines.
Fusion is a vertical monolith in monochrome glass 3m20 high. It is made up of several colored glass plates, placed against each other and fused at high temperature. The shape is reduced to the greatest simplicity, a parallelepiped, to give all its strength to the color, the slight gradient of which, from white to red, evokes the active energy of fire, an essential element in glasswork. The red, predominantly vermilion, optically enhances the blue-gray of the stone in the square and the facade. Symbolically, the work rises from the cold floor of the forecourt, in dark stone, towards the sky, light and heat.
